Paused for a Century is a song whose concept I love, but I regret producing it. The main reason is that now that I’m writing the book, the thought of pausing the main character for 100 years and ending all his relationships is just sad and unsatisfying. I do have a solution, and it will be fine. But man, why did I do that to myself? First novel ever, and I gave myself a massive reset right in the middle of the story.
The song, though, is fire. The concept is horrific.
There you are, in the air, axe in hand, about to come down on a giant spider and then… PAUSE.
You’re aware, awake, but stuck.
Years go by, and the system itself stops you from losing your mind. It stops your body from decaying. From sleeping. Your soul is just being tested in a horrific way.
Suddenly… RESUME.
You fall to the ground with no idea who you even are or what you’re doing.
That spider, though, has been hungry for 100 years.
Jolt.
The system gives you back your powers, your memories, and resets your body.
AND GO!
That was the feeling for this song. It’s among my favorites, and I find myself going back to it over and over again.
