Hello again!
For my single, “Prince of the Fallen World,” I wrote a story about a deeply flawed character. A creature built from ego, pride, and shame.
To us lowly humans, he would look like a demigod. Powerful. Regal. Terrifying. But internally, he is wrestling with one selfish choice buried inside a lifetime of selfish choices.
Our prince may eventually choose a path of redemption, but that is not the story this song is telling.
This song sits in the stink of consequence.
Our prince was born on a faraway planet, into a society of interdimensional raiders. His people were a powerful species capable of traveling between dimensions. Instead of making peace, sharing knowledge, or building bridges between worlds, they plundered.
Technology. Weapons. Spaceships. Slaves. Whatever they wanted, they took.
And our prince was born into the royalty of this planet.
He lived a life of privilege among conquerors. The worst among the worst.
Everything was going swell for our prince until his species bit off more than they could chew.
A new dimension was discovered. Plans were made. Armies were prepared. The invasion was launched.
Unfortunately, this dimension was not some helpless world waiting to be stripped bare. It was filled with endless waves of shadow demons.
What was supposed to be another successful raid backfired catastrophically, resulting in hundreds of thousands of shadow demons pouring into their home world.
As the invasion collapsed, our prince fell back to the last standing fortress. A planet-wide retreat was ordered. He stepped onto a ship he did not know how to use. Remember, his people stole everything they had. Then the ship launched before anyone else could board.
He watched from above as the remains of his people were overwhelmed and wiped out.
The ship, running on autopilot, forced him into cryo-stasis, altered his DNA, and headed toward the nearest planet with a breathable atmosphere.
Earth.
When he wakes up, the ship drops him into an escape pod and kicks him out, abandoning him completely.
The prince lands in Germany in the 1930s and is forced to blend into human society. Now he has to live with himself. His shame. His ego. His pride.
A demigod among men.
Serve me
Hail me
Make way
Obey me
Fight me
Avoid me
Stop me
Save me
So yeah, the story is interesting, and I will likely continue it in another song at some point.
As for the music, I wanted something space-themed without being corny. Cinematic, aggressive, and full of swagger, with occasional little nods to 1950s sci-fi energy.
For the most part, this song is a swagger-fest.
I sang this one personally and used my vocals to train Mr. RIOT. The persona mostly listened this time, which was a nice change of pace.
“Prince of the Fallen World” comes out May 22nd.
