Once upon a time, I opened a video game bar. It was a crazy time. Fourteen-hour work days, seven days a week. We had escape rooms, an HTC Vive setup, a LAN center, and a board game/card game area. It was every nerd’s dream.

One thing that really stuck out to me during that time was this: there are different types of gamers out there. One of them, I wrote this song for.

These gamers just like winning. They don’t care about anything else. It doesn’t matter to them if other players are having fun. I’ve seen it again and again.

Do you know how many tables have been flipped at my bar on board game night? These are adults, BTW.

The answer? Too damn many, haha.

Anyway…

I love songs with swagger. Devil’s Dance – Metallica, Adrenalize – In This Moment, Warriors Call – Volbeat. Songs that have a bouncy bass riff and lyrics about a powerful feeling or perspective.

So I combined both concepts.

As long as I am winning

It’s fun, corny, and catchy.

I got the bass line worked out, and the AI vocals are coming out nice and cool.

My Riot/Lyra combined persona had a ton of trouble with this one. I had to spoon-feed it my vision, and they nailed it.

If I manage to finish the song this weekend, I’ll schedule the release for next Friday.
