So, I did it! King of Cheese is fresh out of the oven. The mix went well, with no crazy clipping or strange over-compressing that my Focusrite likes to do with my bass. Even RIOT/LYRA (my AI vocalists) weren’t freaking divas this time. They actually listened and sang the chorus the way I wrote it. Total miracle.

From my short-lived experiences in bands, human vocalists can be divas too, wanting to sing things their own way. So for me, as a rhythm guitarist and lyricist, it was always hard to fully push my pure vision for a song through. At least this way, I can keep smacking the side of the toaster until I get what I want. Sometimes. Eventually the toaster will hit back, which is probably a theme for another song, TBH.

Rant over, the song sounds dope. The chorus has been stuck in the heads of everyone I’ve demoed it for, so that’s probably either a really good sign or a bad one.

This might be a “what have I done?!” moment.

I particularly like how the artwork came out for my “Rat Player” concept. I was going for “Game of Thrones,” but with an asshole cheater. I mean, Cersei was also sort of an asshole cheater in that series too. I have a comic style that I really like and always push for, but this time the realistic approach felt a bit darker, which appealed to me. So I ended up going with a hybrid comic/realistic feel for the album art.

I don’t think I’m going to do a fully animated video for this one. Everyone knows who the game cheaters are in their life, even if it’s themselves. So I’m going to let the listener come up with their own story for this one.
