Save Our Souls

Witness of Six Days is a song that I wrote after watching this:

As an American who went through the US education system, I was never taught about this.

Imagine being aboard the USS Liberty. Attacked by allies. They called for help, and the help was called back. 17 hours of hell. 17 hours of the crew, unarmed, keeping the boat above the water.

They weren’t meant to live, but they did. And when they came home, they were silenced. They had to live the rest of their lives being ignored. It never happened. It was an accident.

Outrage.

17 fucking hours.

They fired on the lifeboats.

So this song is for them. It is my hope that my song, Witness of Six Days, helps, even in the smallest ways, push awareness of what happened that day.

Musically, I worked with John Deblasio, a veteran and 40-year pianist, on a melodic introduction to the song. Something that would pull the listener in and create a real connection before the story is told. The way I composed the song was with some strong guitar chords, reverb drums, and then right into his melody. I trained LYRA to sing the verses in a monologue style. For the chorus, I wrote and composed it to be the most musical part of the song, creating contrast with the verses.

No survivors
Sink the truth
Burn the signal
Kill the proof

I wanted the breakdown to cut deep. I went right from verse two into the breakdown, building intensity with the ferocity and outrage that I feel in my gut.

Called for help
Help took flight
Wings of home
Crossed the night

Then they turned
Turned away
Who gave that order?
Who got paid?

Inside the wire
Inside command
Inside the rooms
With clean white hands

Inside our flag
Inside our own
They made the sea
A killing floor

I can’t help but feel outrage, even as I write this post. As I type and try to talk about how and why I composed the music. So I will leave you with this. Some songs that I write are stories. They come from my imagination, the creative centers. Little worlds that play out in my mind. And some… some are cancer, cancer that I am cutting out of my very soul and putting into music. An expression of emotion. This one is the latter.

Witness of Six Days comes out Friday, 7/10/2026.

We’re not done til the dead sing their song
